My driver side rear turn signal isn't lighting. The driver side front one is, and the tail light, brake light, and hazard light functions all work on the rear. Would that be the turn signal switch in the column? That switch has separate wires for the front left and rear left, doesn't it ?

No if the front turns signal is working it is not the switch common to both. Try changing the bulb as turn element probably burnt. If not bulb Check socket for cleanliness. or you can use a meter or test light and see if you are getting flashing energy at socket

Bulb works on both filiments, socket is making contact and the pigtail is good as evidenced by the bright filiment lighting with the brake lights. It just isn't energizing that second filiment with the turn signal back there. That's why I'm wondering what parts of the circuit are in common, and which are independent. I did replace the bulb since I had it out anyway, same issue.
Should the yellow wire coming out of the turn signal switch be running to the (I forget which color wire) brighter of the bulb filiments in the tail light pigtail, similar to this diagram ? (mine's a 78, but I suspect there aren't many differences)

This diagram in the 1978 electrical troubleshooting manual is what lead me to believe that the front and rear turn signals were on separate circuits coming from the turn signal switch...
Well my diagnosis was right, plugging a new switch into the harmonica gets all the turn signals working. Now it's just a matter of figuring out how to get the original switch out... I see lots of diagrams for the tile / tele column, but not finding a blowup of the tilt-only column just yet.
