1971, 350 / 270hp auto with Edelbrock 600cfm carb, intake and air cleaner.
Very warm over here (England) today, about 27c, took her out for a good run and she is running great apart from one issue.
She idles at about 650rpm most of the time but every so often when I come to a halt the idle speed drops and drops until the engine dies, this is especially annoying in an automatic.
I drove about 80 miles today in the sunshine and it happened 4 times, always when stopped at lights and junctions, other than this issue she seems to run sweet.
When it dies I have no problem starting her up straight away again.
Any of you guys experienced this or have any advice to give please?
Best regards
Nick

Reason: Thought of something else
Does your car have an idle stop solenoid? If so, that would be the first thing I would look at.
Edit. After thinking about it ( should have done that first) that's not the purpose of the solenoid anyway.

You will receive dozens of ideas here in a few hours, but one thing not to overlook is the Vac Can on the dizzy. It could have a leak. If you disconnect the hose to the dizzy with your thumb over the end of the vac line the engine should idle way down or die. Remove thumb and it will speed up.
Your vac source should be hooked up to Full Manifold Vacuum even if you have to adjust your Ign timing & idle speed screw. (The timed vac port on the carb is for emissions, not neccessarily performance.
