Default Shift indicator light socket

The console shift indicator lamp socket on my 69 has finally bit the dust as a result of time. It’s a push in type socket and the PO glued the socket in place since several of the prongs snapped.

I don’t see a pigtail replacement from any of the vendors. Has anyone come up with a generic replacement that will work? Checked Dorman but I didn’t see anything.

Is it the same as the dash instrument lights? I've got a pile of old harnesses at home. I can cut one off if they're the same. I won't be back home until mid June.

Hello, I have the same problem for my 73. One of the great guys on this forum told me about the part at Corvette Central #661073. Imagine it would be the same.

I am not sure, but I’ll check in the morning. Thank you much for the offer.

That might work, but it’s not exactly like one that came out of the car. The original has one gray wire (live) and one black wire that’s the ground. I believe, although it’s not the bulb that was in the socket, it’s the socket that holds the bulb that has a small “crystal ball” on the top. The bulb that’s difficult to get. Lol.

I’m not familiar with adding photos but I’m trying. The first photo is the heater control unit showing where the socket plugs in. The second photo is the lamp socket that I’m trying to replace. The black wire is the ground and the hole in the lamp socket is where the gray power lead goes.

The photos are in my very first post. I’m having a hard time getting this right.

I see the difference. Maybe Corvette Central has one like that. Good Luck!

I checked their website and I don’t think they have anything that might work. I was hoping someone had found a similar GM product that would work. I will probably end placing a flashlight on the console. Lol
