Opinions please: Hooker sidepipes

I will shortly be getting a set of used chrome Hooker sidepipes for FREE. :D They are currenty on a 66 BB coupe and Hooker says they'll fit my 69. One problem is that the header portion is rusted/pitted and the chrome plating is toast. The side tubes are almost new and can be used as is. I'm thinking of having just the header portion Jethot coated and leave the chrome tubes as is. I thought this would look good with the louver trim and ralleys which are also a combination of silver paint and chrome. Anyone done this and have pics? What do you guys/gals think of how it would look?

They are great, I think someone here as the headers jet hot coated and chrome pipes, It might be massvette, I'm not sure. I've seen it on other cars and they look good.

Just make sure the headers aren't rotted out on the inside too. Any ways, you can't beat free!

Have fun with them.

P.S. Find an old set of crappy rocker panels and trim them up instead of your good originals!

Hi Mark, I have seen full jet coated pipes. They look really good and last forever I am told. I know the jet coat is nowhere near as mirror like the chome pipes. My buddy had his GSXR750 pipe jet coated and his rims are ultra chrome... you can tell a difference easily! You are gettting them for free... might want to consider jetting the whole system. You car is going to look AWESOME regardless. Chrome is awesome coloring, but your car is so bright now the jet hot would look incredible. Good luck and post pics of the finished product....

I think it would look fine, but if the money is there I would opt for coating everything :cool: Here is a pic that shows chrome wheel vs. Jet Hot sterling finish header/sidepipes :cheers:

Yellow 72: what did it cost to have the headers and pipes coated like that? They looks awesome. :cool:

72- Your car is sweet! That Jet Hot is super bright.

Mark69BB- Considering this picture from 72, a full jet coat seems to be in order. My buddy's cycle pipe is not as bright as 72's sidepipes. Wait until I show him the pic.... :mad :mad His pipe is kinda of muted silver??? I am thinking of Jetting my whole exhaust system now....
