I've got AC Delco 8mms on there now. I replaced them in '96. I've got a couple cuts and scorches on a few. I'm looking for a set that I won't have to cut-to-fit (length). I'll buy factory again, but they're expensive.
Any thoughts on made-to-fit after market wires for an '82? How much and where's the best place to get them?
IMO there isn't a huge difference in performance unless you are racing...
cost...same deal...not a huge difference...
which leaves appearance. They are so visible in the engine area.
And I think of myself as a wrencher long before a waxer...
Even though you've got all that extra stuff on top of the engine, I'd expect your plug wires to be the same as an '81, as they route along the side of the block??
If so, I fitted a set of Moroso spiral wound blue whatever they're called, which I got from Ecklers when I was in Florida. They fit OK & the lengths were exactly right, apart from one which is very slightly shorter than the original. So the fit meets your criteria, but the price probably doesn't - they're not what I'd call cheap. An old Ecklers catalogue shows them as $69-99/set whereas AC Delco ones are $42-99.
Hope that helps a bit!

I put a set of delcos on, no biggie, fit fine, best thing I did was to put rapid fires in front of them. Haven't replaced the 82's, except rapid fires, runs ok, but probably won't keep it, so not spending too much $$ on it, my 81 really $$$$$$. Nice to know about how the blue wires work though. :smash:
