I bought a 69 coupe in Fla.about a month ago that had a recent frame off with many upgrades and new parts.Small block car with m-21 I have put about 200 miles on the car and it is a fun car to drive, cold vintage air, very tight with new shocks swaybars, controlarms etc. When I took it out yesterday I noticed a popping noise from the rear, not sure what it is but it seems to be worse when making a right turn with a slight incline.Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Can be the clutches in the rear differential...or rear wheel bearings...or universal joints...or a loose lower shock absorber mount point...or loose bolts that hold the half shafts to your inner bearing flange due to not having the french locks on them.
Thanks DUB sounds like I need to find a good corvette shop to check it out.Anyone know of a good shop in the North Ga. area that is good and dependable.
I would start with changing the rear diff fluid or adding limited slip additive if the fluid is new.
Most often this is the issue.
Of course while your down there look around for anything loose too.
Mine was doing the same....It sounded and felt like someone had thrown a handfull of gravel in the differential....I changed the fluid and added 2 bottles of the limited slip additive and the sounds stopped.
By the way what part of North Ga are you located....? I live in Cartersville abotu 50 miles north of Atlanta.

I do not know anyone to recommend to you in North Georgia
I would advise you hanging out at car shows and meeting other Corvette owners and get the general consensus of who they take their car to.
With this being a recent off-frame restoration...it is hard to say ALL of what they did. I would ASSUME that they put two bottles of the GM additive in the rear differential.
Also...if they put in new ring and pinion and completely rebuilt the rear differential...there is a 'break-in' procedure that should be followed. Not knowing if they did that at all or not.

Had to do the rear gear oil change on my Dodge diesel a while back with the limited slip additive added,it took 5 quarts 2 fill up the Dana.I hope that is the cure for the vette.
Just to follow up on my noise in the rear, got the car up on jack stands looking for drain on rear end and found the problem. One of the retainer clips on my passenger side outer u-joint had left the scene along with the cap.Its amazing it didn't come out and beat the bottom out of the vette.Made it to the local O'reilly's and picked up a Spicer unit and after a little help from my son we got everything centered and slipped a new cap and retainer clip back on and it seems ok no noise. Thanks for all the help from all you vette forum guys.
I guess that is the case but every thing was still in the right position so with the new cap and retainer it seems to drive like before without having to take it all apart.I think that the reason it came apart was the retainer had not ben snapped in the groove. This car is all brand new underneath and I think I am finding things that have been over looked when they was finishing up.Half shafts are all new and after looking and not finding any damage on the yoke or the other part of the u-joint decided to put it back together.I will keep an eye and ear on it for sure.
