Default I need some water pump schoolin'

I'm trying to figure out what water pump to buy for my 1974 l82 and there seems to be multiple options...I hate that. I see Short vs Long style and 5/8 vs 3/4 shaft.

Were there differences within the same year and is there an easy way to tell without pulling the pump?

I just want to get a new pump, nothing special, maybe hi-flow.

Unless something has changed from the original setup, definitely a short water pump. I believe the shaft is 3/4". When searching for a replacement, if you specify your year model corvette, most parts places will get you the proper one. No need to remove it until it's time to replace it.

I know others will chime in shortly.

Cool. I think you're right. I just get two selections when I go to oreillyauto.com and they are both short style with 3/4 inch shaft.

I agree with short pump. Just pull the fan and measure the hole diameter best way to be sure

Of course I see this after I've already bought one. I bought a Stewart hi-flow that cost more than that.

That's all I run on my motors is a Stewart pump. Convinced me with a pump that cooled a radical BB down.

Stick with what you bought.
