The heater/defroster actuator on my '72 non-AC car is leaking vacuum; can this be replaced without removal of entire heater box? I can see 2 speed nuts holding it to the end of the heater box. How is the actuator stem attached to the flapper inside? I've looked at my AIM with no luck. A previous post stated that Paragon is the best source for replacement part but did not discuss installation of it. A search of past posts turned up nothing on actual installation.
Hi MAC,
"How is the actuator stem attached to the flapper inside?"
I don't know.
Perhaps a flat circular clip like the one used on the pin on this lever?
A very tough one to access!!
Good Luck.
Regards,
Alan
I took my plenum out. Still broke a stud off the repro actuator that I bought from Corvette America. Even though there is no clip on the actuator shaft, it is difficult to replace on the bench.
