Recommendation for TH400 Rebuild Kit
It'll be going into a street driven car that I want to shift firmly, but NOT HARSH/WHAM type stuff. Assume 350-375hp (or less), 3.08 rear for time being, but ultimately will probably move to 3.55 or so.
He will provide the labor, but I was going to at least offer to provide the parts/kit to be used in it. I know there is a wide range, starting with things off the big auction side.
I want it to have whatever it needs, including bushings, etc., if they need replacing. All the wear parts have to go.
This may be one of those 'opinion' type questions, but is there a 'recommended' vendor or brand that I should try to stick with, whether I provide, or tell him to buy directly? Or since I'm not building a 600hp strip car, does it make a lot of difference on what I use? I have to believe there are some to avoid?
Thanks for any help.
I used the most aggressive calibration and at anything less the WOT, the shifts are pretty seamless, but I do run a 10" converter.
As for the rebuild, pretty much anything they put in it will work fine for you...A stock T400 will last forever behind 375hp...and the shift kit will make it feel a bit more snappy.

1-2 shifts are nice and firm, haven't broken anything in the trans in 40 some odd years.
