i might take it to a chassis dyno. I was planning on the rpm Airgap and that’s what Chris ground my cam with in mind but I’m kinda wondering how to make a tunnel ram with dual quads look good on a corvette. I’ll definately keep my small block hood in case I want to go the other way with the intake. Ajrothm isn’t yours in the 700 range?

It’s funny if you look at my first post titled smog 454 build, the parts I have listed that I wanted were like not even close to what I ended up with and a lot of you guys chimes in on that post giving me recommendations so this build was pretty inspired by just guys here on the forum. This is an awesome resource for information. Everyone I’ve used whether ordering parts or doing machine work (all but the block which is being done local) has been sourced here along with recommendations on cam size etc. anyways I think that’s pretty cool what we have here On this forum. Thanks for not letting me put the tiny cam I was going to put and the pancake intake manifold lol. AJ you’re the reason I went 496...I saw your video on YouTube racing I think it was a stang and I thought man....that’s how I want mine

Part throttle pull, even rips with a tall gear its too much fun. No sbc will take the place of that. Had a 69 SS Chevelle with too big a cam, would still pull a tall gear real well no need for OD.

ya I just can’t wait to get that baby running. Big thing now is how to keep that baby cool

No.. Mine made 657hp/670tq on an engine dyno... But that was using the air hat (+10) and 2"x3.5" shop headers...(+10).. Not to mention we made pulls at 120-130* water temp and 180-190* oil temps..these are the best of both worlds.... In reality, in the car it probably makes 625 or so before the accessories, exhaust etc...

Mine made 460 rwhp on a SuperFlow chasis dyno going through the T400, 3200 stall converter and heavy IRS stuff.

I’ll be happy to do 625 when it’s all said and done👍

RPM Air gap, 1" open spacer and a 850-1000 cfm double pumper will get you there.... I bet you'll make way more then 625.....

My buddy's 498" with 10.5-1, Slick Rick ported Dart ovals, ported Vic Jr and a 1000HP, along with a straub 260/268* hyd roller made right at 700hp..... with a Dominator on an adaptor it made 718hp. In a second gen Camaro it went 10.0@133mph at 3600lbs in +1000' DA.

Your lifters just looked too tall for solids sorry, both of my engines have Crane Pro solids and they kept the metal at a minimum to make them lite weight

to ensure lifter oiling at lower rpm I used high volume pump with blocked off bypass. I keep my oil pressure at sub 75 psi hot by adjusting the oil weight. About half 10w30 vr1 with 20w50 VR1

Sure look like hydraulics to me too. After seeing the pics again it says so right on the box.

With those cam specs, I bet its hydraulic. Even the instructions for install and adjusting in your pic says hydraulic.

Its just some generic insert they put with the morels. Looking at the lifter neck down, they look like solids to me.

If they are hydraulic it’s wrong.

A 247/256* cam is pretty big for a hyd roller....and along the lines of what I think Chris would have spec'd for you..... A comparable cam in a solid roller would likely be 257/268* or so..... usually its roughly 10* more for a solid roller for comparable specs, this is due to the .02x" you lose from valve lash in a solid, vs. 0 lash in a hyd roller.

A 247 hyd roller will work pretty well for your combo, I'd run it for sure....

Since your receipt says "solid roller"./....I'd say its a solid roller.
