I'm waiting for the replacement switch to arrive and I was just looking for threads that may be useful in the reassembly. I have found some of Jim Shea's articles and was trying to search for other useful info. At the moment I think I am OK but won't know for sure til I get it back together. Thanks for the reply
It's been almost 40 years since I found myself performing this job, and as I recall it was not a particularly fun task. Then again we didn't have the Corvette Forum and its' hundreds of years of experience at our fingertips to help either.
As a Mechanical Engineer you should be used to difficult tasks.

The procedure was a success, the steering column is all back together and working properly. The turn signal switch was cracked at the lever attachment point. I installed a new one from Eckler's today and all is good. Got a replacement c-clip plastic retainer from Corvette Central who are quite helpful. Also a big thank you to Jim Shea for all his article and diagrams which were a great help!!
