1982 power antenna help please
installed a reproduction power antenna in my 82 ce yesterday and it works fine until it goes down to about 1- inch sticking out. Goes up fine. Any tips? Is new antenna bad? Thank you in advance. Joe

Sounds like the motor is not retracting the exposed one inch section. I would replace the antennae. Unfortunately, when you buy aftermarket parts, they do not always work properly. I have a 1982 vette and it sometimes drives me crazy. See if you can send it back for refund. If not just chalk it up to the cost of maintaining a beautiful sports car

I would call who you got it from and have them send another...BUT...this also depends that when you took the antenna out of the box...the mast was fully retracted in the housing an it was not already up that inch you are referring to.

If the aftermarket unit does not pan out, your best bet may be to find an original antenna. Even if its broken, there are kits out there that allow you to replace the inner plastic cable that becomes brittle with age. I went that route on my car and my rebuilt antenna works very well.
