The last guy had the right idea with lithium battery.Im not sure if the resteration batteries are up to NCRS standards and is hard to Know the best way forward?
Ha! That's a great idea. Please post photos if you get it to work. You may also want to post a WTB message in the C3 Parts forum.
As someone who deals with lithium batteries for work, please be careful. A lot of the "cheap" batteries available (for example, this one at Summit is only $500-, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lpp-c545 ) are intended for drag race use only. There is no alternator, and the battery needs to be bench charged at the end of the race or the end of the day.
A proper 12 VDC lithium battery cell for your car will have a built in charger and cell balancer and be rated for alternator applications. For example this one, bargain priced at $2500- https://www.jegs.com/i/XS-Power/703/...06180002778188

Be safe!
Good point. While lead acid batteries are fine with a constant 14.6v supply charging them, lithium based batteries need to charge at a controlled amperage until the voltage hits nominal, then the voltage has to be held constant while the amperage drops as the cells get nearer to full charge. Charging lithium cells to too high a voltage, or discharging them to too low a voltage, both cause bad things to happen.
...Seems to me that’s exactly what the OP is looking for in creating this thread, eventual criticisms about judging notwithstanding...Maybe we could stay on track regarding his original part search and leave the “original air in the tires” commentary for the many NCRS complaint threads...
I agree. This is not an NCRS bash thread despite efforts leaning that way. The OP knows exactly what he/she wants.
That is a sad state of affairs. To think, 20 years ago, if a car achieved Bloomington Gold status, that car, today, would be hard pressed to get the same award. The ever 'evolving' state of restoration requirements makes even reputable parts suppliers to defer due to the cost to conform.
I agree, your last blue ribbon is only for that year, expensive hobby
For why?
