Does anybody know what size the fuel filter housing is on a Quadrajet for a 1979 L-82 4 speed? The fuel line is cross threaded in mine so I'm going to replace the housing and the line. The carb part number is 17059211.

Are you asking what the thread size is that screws into the carb..? Or are you asking what wrench size the nut is? The male threads are a non-standard 1"-20, so you cannot buy any hardware store fitting - you have to buy a Q-Jet inlet nut, which will be the correct size. The wrench size is 1".

No. Sealers are only used on pipe threads, which use the threads as the sealing surface. These are not pipe threads. The fitting seals on the teflon gasket installed in the recess on the end of the fitting, so thread sealant serves no purpose. Make sure you use a new gasket. However, as with any threaded fastener, you should lubricate the threads lightly with a thread lube, assembly lube, or light grease in order to assure proper torque and to eliminate any galling of the threads. This will assure a good seal.
