So, I'm going to tackle the rebuild of my ST10 myself. Read some stuff, looked at some videos, doesn't look too bad. My question is, who makes a rebuild kit that's worth a damn? I see kits on 'thegearbox.org' and americanpowertrain warehouse (looks like Chinese bearing, not SKF), and pricing from $70 to $220 with what looks like similar parts. Any feedback appreciated....
Look up 5speeds.com, call Paul and tell him what you are doing. Great guy and his rebuild kits have only quality parts! Do a good inspection upon teardown and make note of worn components.
shifter forks and sliders are inexpensive parts , not included in rebuild kit.
Just a suggestion from my past experience. Follow the order of assembly exactly as described in the manual. The ST-10 is a Chinese puzzle, it only goes together one way.
Generally you can get a kit like this one. Once you get it a part you will see how thin the brass synchros have worn. In older abused boxes the gear shifting forks need replacing , first gear bushing, and 3rd gear because it is the lowest tq rated gear in the box.
this kit is 144. Where the Richmond is 220 dollars

If you don't go with Paul, Jody of Jody's transmissions is a good place to get parts. I get all my muncie parts from those two people.
Doc - when you say 'the manual', do you mean the section in the Chilton's Corvette manual? I could not find anything online resembling an actual Borg Warner manual.

Was looking at this a couple of days ago.
description on gearbox.org says it's skf bearings. American powertrain warehouse also says skf on a couple of the kits. Not sure on the rest of the parts though.
