Default Signal lights

Yesterday when checking all light functions on my 71 Vette, I found when checking turn turn signals both front operated properly, but the rear both directional lights flashed at the same time, no matter what side was on. What should I check for?

First thing to check is the turn signal flasher.

I would think its possible the turnsignal wire and the brake wire are shorted together somewhere.Have you done any work lately or maybe mouse got at them. Check underneath at wires to socket or check pigtail and make sure they are not touching

No wiring updates, just installed new alternator other was dead. Besides trying to flasher, I will check ground. No mouse.
