Default Leak

Just rebuilt the top end of the engine. Parked the car on an incline and saw a leak; moved it and it leaked a lil more. Where is it coming from?

It’s difficult to say without knowing what it is that’s leaking. Is it oil, power steering fluid or something else? Once you determine what’s leaking then you can start looking for it’s source. Keep in mind that leaks can originate at one point and drip at another. I had an oil drip that seemed to be coming from the area of the rear seal as it dripped down the bell housing inspection cover. Turned out to be coming from the driver side rear corner of the oil pan.

how much of the motor did you hae apart, intake only, intake and heads, water pump and timing chain cover?

I had 4 leaks recently that leaked bad, one was the timing chain cover, the other was the front crank seal. The timing chain cover was easy but it required the pan seal as well. The crank seal came out with the damper twice, The third time I cleaned the paint with acetone on the cover and all the paint off the seal and installed it with locktite red 272. Each was a new seal. The other was the power steering which probably isnt your issue. It could also be a bad seal on the china wall of the block /intake seal. Those are the major ones you would have touched.

Another could be the distributor gasket but it usually seeps not flows like you have.

can you wash the motor with a degreaser and take some better pics for us. When my crank seal was leaking I couldnt see it but after cleaning the motor and just touching it and looking with a flashlight I could trace it
