1982 Corvette-Code 12 Problem

Hi,

I am picking up a code 12 when check engine light is on. The service manual indicates that the distributor spark tuning reference pulses which are generated by the pick up coil are not being received by the ECM. What does this mean and how do you fix it? The plugs, wires, distributor, cap, rotor and ignition coil were change 1200 miles ago. Thanks

Code 12 means there is no rpm signal. It is verification that the computer is up and running.

Code 12 is normal condition unless it is flashing code 12 while running.

Check the black connector (4wire) behind the distributor make sure it's plugged in if it is most likely the ignition module is bad if the check engine light stays on with a code 12.
