Default Sending Unit wire(s)?

I looked everywhere on here to find this but couldn't. On a '76 gas tank sending unit, there's a tan (ohms) wire that goes to the tank from the gauge, and a pink(voltage) wire that also goes to the gauge. My simple question is this - Is there only one wire that goes to the sending unit in the tank? (ohms) wire probably. Thanks

not much help here, but there was only the tan that ran from the dash, and an a short earth from the sender to the frame on my '72.

i replaced the then 43 yr old with a new piece years ago, as i thought the old wires resistance was affecting the fuel gauge reading.

Yes one tan wire goes to the SU. The pink is power for the gauges and the ground is made up through chassis grounds etc....
