Chassis dyno when EFI was tuned.

496 Big block with custom 3x2 EFI running FAST XFI 2.05, 10:1 compression, cam in the 240 @ .050" range, Airwolf (ported Edelbrock RPM) heads
T-56 manual (close ratio)
3.73 12 bolt rear

Tuner said that the sidepipes with STS baffles were choking the car above 5500 rpm. I think the heads might be a bit too big as well put the intake was custom made/ported for the heads so swapping heads would require intake rework. So, for now, I just drive the heck out of it.

Those side pipes are killing it for sure... There is 40-50hp right there... I wouldn't worry about the heads being too big.

Also, SuperFlow dynos read a bit lower then dyno jets...8-10% lower similar to a Mustang Dyno.... I also dynoed on a SF dyno and I was surprised how low my RWHP was compared to my crank HP...

But the wife loves the side pipes.....

I am running STS baffles. I may pull them over the summer and cut off the center cap to improve flow. However, the car is very mellow to drive with the top down at cruise and I don't want to lose that character.

Yep...I totally understand... I don't like a really loud car either.

On my Dad's 65' 396 car, we built some custom, stock appearing side pipes using Classic Chambered crimped mufflers with 2.5" ID.... It woke the car up a lot over the stock midyear side pipes but....it is pretty damn loud now while accelerating..... Sounds similar to the stock pipe sound, with the volume up to 10. Luckily I'm going deaf in it so I get used to it...
