Drivers side Power window replacement.
The window on my drivers side 1977 vette refused to come down. The switch had current as well as the right side. there was also current going to the plug which connected to the motor.
I purchased a new motor (made In China) and could tell it wasn't the same quality but I guess that's what you get these days. Watched a YOU TUBE VIDEO about 10 times and pulled out the motor and tracks. Installed the new motor and after hours of gettting everthing back together. All I got was about a 1/2 inch play up up and down. Pulled everthing out again to check just the motor. Now I have a dead switch and no current going to the plug that goes into the motor. I tried to do a remote test on the motor but couldn't get it to respond.
I found the fuse panel and it is mounted so far up I don't see how anyone can possibly get to it to check the fuses. My passenger side window is still working, wondering if each window has a separate fuse.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know what you think. THANKS!!!!

Not sure about a 77 but my 73 has the window circuit breaker (no fuse) mounted on the firewall in the engine compartment. It is mounted on the side of the brake booster box. It is fed directly from the horn relay and feeds both doors. The ignition switch powers a relay that switches this power source off and on with the key. . Since one window works I would suspect a more localized problem. I would attach a good ground to the door and power the motor directly to test the motor. . On my 73 there are two wires going to the motor. One is for up and the other is for down so you only energize one at a time. The ground is common through the door. .
