C3 1976 L48 engine - looking for replacement brand recommendations? Any issues with Fluidampr? Thanks in advance.

I've starting using Powerbond balancers. The 350 balancer is the PB1046N. If you have extra money the PB1046SS race balancer is a real nice part.

All depends on the use of your car and the motor you are building.
OEM stock replacement is great for a stock motor build and cruising.
If you are building a performance motor then you may need to upgrade to one like I'm using for my internally balanced 496.
Are you running an internally or externally balanced rotating assembly?

Internal balance...stock. I did some upgrades - bored .30 over, 9 to 1 compression pistons, lightly upgraded the cam, added Edelbrock alum. performance heads and manifold, running 650 Edelbrock 4 barrel carb. Not sure if stock balancer is sufficient.

If the stock balancer is in good condition it will still work. Being a 350 it is an internally balanced assembly. GM ZZ engines come with a GM 8" balancer (#19260269). It is a pretty standard GM balancer for a 350.

The balancer on the engine is 6-3/4" OD and losing its bonding material. Is a 8" more preferred?
Looking for a quality balancer.

There are two different thoughts. GM put the 8" on the high performance stuff. A lot of people also like to run the smallest balancer they can to reduce rotating mass. You can use either, but timing pointers would need to be changed if you swapped.

I've had a fluidampr on my SBC Jet Boat Engine (355ci 350hp) for over twenty years (no issues at all). A Jet Boat Motor spends most of it's time at peak TQ RPM (nature of a Jet Pump, think Dyno load) and there are the additional shock loads from wake impact, RPM spikes from Jet Intake unloading and I've never had a problem. That experience made it easy choice to put a Fluidampr on my current 460 BBC (590hp/550tq) 68 Vert Motor.

For a typical Street/Mild Strip application the Bonded OEM style would be fine, if you got extra dollars either ATI, Fluid or Rattlr will give extra protection (my opinion anyway). If you're staying below 7000 RPM any of them will do the job.
