Looking for confirmation that the hoses and electronic choke seem set up correctly. For the choke: the wire marked in red was a loose wire, but couldn’t find what else it would’ve gone to, but it’s a switched 12v so used that for the choke.
its a ‘74 automatic so from what I’ve read, the vacuum line coming off the distributor should be going g to the pre-emissions control port on the carb.

Tried starting it. Sometimes starts right up and dies 5-10 seconds later. Other times won’t turn over at all. I think the lines are all accurate and ive got 12v at the choke when key is turned. Will look at floats next I suppose.
If you are going to use a wiper motor harness wire for positive power to your choke use the yellow one. It is powered any time the ignition switch is in the on position and is protected by a fuse.

Thanks. I went with the black cause it was already loose and had a connector and showed 12v only when the ignition was on. But since I’m looking for startup solutions too, presently, I’ll try switching to the yellow amongst the other trouble shooting procedures

That black wire that you chose that has 12 volts on it....if it is a factory wire...tells me you have something wrong.
Black wires are almost always a ground wire and NO power on them.

Having traced out my entire wiring harness as I was eliminating some systems and using the existing wiring for new systems, I can say that every one of the black wires in my car were grounds.
If you have the Squarebore to Spreadbore adapter on that setup you need to find a better way and get rid of it ASAP........
You will NEVER get that tuned correctly due to the mismatch on the primaries.......the mismatch creates much reversion which results in poor throttle response and bad fuel mileage.
These are a terrible option and should only be used as a last resort/field fix.......
Find a spread bore carb or install a 2101 Performer intake......
I throw out at least three of these "adapters" a year.
