Default Chrome Ball Vents

My chrome ball vents are very discolored. How hard is it to change these?

Mine are junk as well. I had my passenger side panel off, and if I remember correctly, it was a piece of cake. Did you buy a kit, just the ball? Mine needs the *****, felts, and part of the linkage as well.

Testor's silver paint. Honestly, it's inexpensive, and doesn't look Bubba. I like the brushed aluminum look, anyway. :yesnod:

The vent ***** are held in between the dash pad and the vent duct itself. Replacing the passenger side one is easy enough since the lower dash pad is a breeze to remove. The drivers side one is a PITA since you've got to drop the steering column to get the dash pad out, then remove the duct, etc.

Down and dirty "old indian trick"..... Just grab the ball and pull it out the front. Don't take the dash panels...drivers or passengers side...out. Pop the new ***** in the same way.

DISCLAIMER.....if you need to replace felts, etc, you cannot do it via this approach. If you just want a new shiny ball in there, it works fine. Chuck

Just a 'heads up'. If you plan to replace the *****, be sure and replace the felts as well. It is the felts that collect the dust and grit and it will 'scratch your new *****' if you don't replace them too.

well i just got done playing with my *****. They are in good shape, just jiggle a little when i hit a bump. I surely dont want new ***** because mine are fine, i desided i needed felt around them then i asked my girlfriend to adjust them and they just move right back to where they started. So she played with them for a while, and they seemed to be fine after that.
