200R-4 speedometer gear choice
is larger than my old th350 one was .Do I have to replace cable and housing or can I just get a new housing for a 200r-4 and install it on my cable .
My car is a 1978 with a 383 stroker now .
Google is your friend. Search for "speedo gear calculator 200R-4". If you input your rear tire size, and your rear gear ratio, it will tell you which speedo gear you need on the trans output shaft and which you need in the speedo 'bullet'. If it is your lucky day, you won't have to change the one inside the trans.

Well when I bought this trans 6 months ago from bowie tie I told them specifically I wanted EVERYTHING needed to do conversion .I was assured that I would get everything twice, and as I have done this there are things they did not include even though I told them I would pay for any extra things that was needed as long as I had all needed .Now 6 months later they wont answer my emails and I get put on hold till it disconnected .
But thanks for the info and no thanks for the slight insult you posted .
P.S. As with everything you buy these days, you have to be very detailed in what you expect when you buy it. [Another word to the wise for future buyers...] The sales departments for these outfits DO NOT HAVE skilled/mechanically-trained people in their ranks. That would cost the company more money. The "techs" are barely better. Stating that you want "everything to be right" means nothing to a sales 'dude'. Just sayin'....

i was over 10% high from speedometer to actual. The end gear going into the side of the tranny is color coded.
I bought the package of end gears from the local chevy dealer and swapped from say red to brown and I was within 2% on one of the road side radar signs. Now just use a GPS
just Google it. They are not hard to change tire size is what BTO can't always take account for
