Never rebuilt a distributor and I picked up an old Chevy 11111950 just so I can take it apart and satisfy my curiosity. Long story.
I understand the dimple orientation and took out the roll pin, removed the gear etc. The shaft is still oiled and slides easily about half way out and then is just stuck stuck stuck.
I think the answer might be a wood dowel and a hammer and to knock it out but before I take the Gorilla Monsoon method I thought I would ask here first and see if I'm missing something. Just don't want to break it
thanks

A lot of times there is burr by the roll pin hole. It doesn't take much to cause it to drag and bind in the bushings. Usually a file or emery cloth on the shaft by the hole would deburr it and it should slide out.
