All else being equal, smaller is quieter.

Quiet is a relative thing. How quiet are you looking for? I have a stock CC 2 inch on my 69 L46 and you can talk inside the vehicle while driving and has nice lope and rumble at the rear at idle. I wouldn't call it quiet as compared to a stock passenger vehicle exhaust system. I bought the clamped vs welded and appreciated the adjustability it gave me in getting it aligned and the the tips to exit in similar positions.
