Hi All,
I just finished tuning up the car and all is project, engine runs beautifully. 30min later I turn the key and the engine will not crank at all. I thought it was that feature that the clutch had to be depressed for the engine to crank. Is there a way to disable this so I rule it out as the cause of the engine not cranking?
Also what else could cause this issue?
Thanks
Update: I manage to start the engine by screw driver. Still have no idea why it will not start by the key.

the rod from the key to the ignition switch could be out of adjustment due to a loose switch. the ignition switch may need to be readjusted to give the rod full throw for the start position to engage
Has your starter safety linkage been disconnected? Cable that runs from the trans to a little arm on the engine end of the steering column. If disconnected and the arm rotates out of the "start" position, the car will not crank. Or if connected and not adjusted correctly same i thing. Make sure the little lever is full up position. If the system is disconnected, recommend using a peice of wire or spot tie to hold it in position.

Do you have a picture or diagram of what it looks like? I have a feeling this might be the issue.

#1-Start by removing the floor mat, sometimes it can keep you from depressing the clutch pedal all the way.
#2-See if the clutch switch (attached to the clutch pedal linkage) moves 100%.
#3-With the shifter in neutral jumper from the purple to the purple/white wire and see if the car starts.

ok, checked the linkage bar on the steering column and you guessed it dors not move when the key is turned. Do you have to remove the steering column to fix it?
Just want to take a moment to thank all of you for your help and support. This makes the hobby so pleasant and enjoyable. BLESS YOU ALL!

You may have to remove the steeering wheel and the key switch, not the whole column. My car doesnt have this (1968) so someone more knowledgable in those columns will have to guide you. Maybe starting a new thread, do a search or ask Willcox. Glad you narrowed it down.
