That is a short tire the stock height for the C3 corvette is 27" and the tire you are looking at is 24.7 I think they will look odd plus your speedometer will be off. A 205 70 is allot closer to the 27" its 26.3 high. I always run 255 60 15 which are 27" and I like the wider tread.

Why in the world would you run a tiny little tire like that...? You'll make the car look like a go-cart.... That tire is only 24-1/2 inches tall and only 8" wide. The C3 Vette will take a stock tire size of 255/60R15, which is 27" tall and 10 inches wide.

For additional info, the stock 1969 Vette tire was an F70-15, which is equivalent to a 215/70R15. It still measures 27" in diameter (C3 Vettes always used this diameter tire to "fill" the wheel wells), and has a section width of just under 8-1/2 inches. When compared to modern wheel/tire combinations that look like rubber bands on a wheel, the original tire/wheel on a Vette may look like "marshmellows," but any tire smaller than 27" diameter makes the car look pretty silly. If you want that "rubber band" look, keep the 27" diameter, and increase the wheel size.

Thanks for the add'l info. One other question--will the 255/60 15 fit on the 8" Rally Wheels, or is a wider wheel needed for the 10" width of the tire?
I appreciate all your help!

From '78-'82, the factory offered the 255/60 tire, on the OE 8" rims......

The best fitting sizes are 255/60R15. If you don't mind skinnier rubber, 225/70R15 is the same overall diameter and will fit.
If you want to go hypermiling on skinny tires at higher pressures (lower rolling resistance, lower aero resistance), 205/75R150 will fit, but probably will be too narrow to fit stock(ish) width wheels.

Be careful. 255-60R15s would rub all over the place on the front of my 68. Even 245s rubbed a skosh. I went to 235-60R15s all around just to avoid the hassle.
Before you install 255/60R15s do a test fit. I'm gonna guess that they're gonna rub on your 69.

While the 255 -60 X 15 may rub in the front at the extremes of turning, they do work and won't hurt the frame other than rubbing off the paint. I have a 69 with 245-60X15 up front and the 255's in the rear. The 10mm difference in width is not really noticeable and nothing rubs anywhere.
