How do you guys smash this arm to hold the cable? I’ve tried a wedge but it just ejects when I hit it. Looks like they would have came up with some kind of clip.
I've never crimped that over the cable. It (the ball) should touch the lever in the resting position and basically the stiffness of the cable should hold it in the loop part. That said I relocated my PB cable years ago so it's different but even before I've never crimped those connections
One of my favorite parts of a C3! When the ball slips out because the stainless components aren't quite correct (even with the spring), you get to (at least) remove the brake caliper just to get to it.
I might have tried vise grips with it in the car, but I think only a bench vice and BFH actually worked. That stainless is thick. I used a punch or nail to make sure I didn't close the gap too much, and made sure I could still slide the cable into the slot. This had to be done with that particular piece of the infernal parking brake contraption off of the car, of course.
