OK, everybody seems to be asking about this lately.
What would it take to put this puppy in my '69 SB? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=417449
I assume I would need to buy a larger radiator and headers. What else needs to be done? Will the engine drop right in or do the engine mounts need to be modified? Will it bolt right up to my M-22?
Re: Another SB to BB conversion question (Smokehouse69)
The only thing that I would be curious about is how far can you bore a stock 454 block safely?
It sounds like that is what he has.
In order to get 509 cubic inches you need a 4.5 inch bore and 4.0 inch crank.
Can a regular 454 block be bored to 4.5 inches safely?

$2500! If that engine was within driving distance of NJ it would be in my garage already :)
James, it's most likely using a 4.25" stroker crank and a .1" or so overbore. Basically, a 496 built from a good and thick block. If it's NOT a thick block, things could get interesting. My local machine shop overbores 454 blocks .125" for their race engines, then throws them away when they inevitably crack. I've also heard about 4.375" stroke cranks, but I've never actually seen one.
