Default 71 seat question

My 71 convertible has sheetmetal hook type plates screwed to the front edge of the seat bottoms. Whazit for?

Those would probably be to hook the seat belt onto. I may be wrong but I think they are supposed to be stainless. A lot of cars are missing those.

For sure about the sheetmetal part. The plate is about 2" x 3". Both seat have it, and it looks factory. I've thought about the seat belt suggestion because 71 don't have retractors. They just lay around on the seats or floor. If that't the best I come up with I don't think I'll put them back on when I finish with the new covers.

They are stainless, but stamped out in a punch press die. Sure, I would be interested in getting rid of them, make a fair offer and we'll go from there.

Bingo on the purpose. They do a nice job of retaining and somewhat hiding (when not in use) the non-retractable seatbelts used up through '71.
