Chevrolet/Corvette ID #s Question
My differential has a number on its back (facing rearward of the car) and that number is "464910" below that is an -M- This is all left of center and written bottom to top vertically. Below my differential, I can only make out the stamped numbers "69" unfortunately. I shot some foamy degreaser on that area since I'm sure that's where I will want to look, but from what I can see, the rest of the number sequence is too far gone. I've figured out via testing the car in 4th gear (1:1) that I do have 3.70 rear gears, though my positraction is worn out.
On my engine block I have code "C11S115....." (the 5 I'm not so sure about, I can make out the bottom half of it, so it could also be an S) but the rest of the alphanumeric sequence is faded.
Any ideas on where or how I could find out what these parts are from? I looked in the "Corvette ID Numbers 1953-93" book, but didn't really know where to start. Would the numbers on the differential cover give a clue? How about the engine starting out with "C11"? Thanks for any knowledge you forum members have to share, this is the first place I come when I need advice about Corvettes.
