Spark Plug Gap on a 75 with HEI
I have a 75 Stingray and was wondering if anyone knew the spark plug gap for that year. I have an HEI which has the Pertronix Flamethrower rebuild kit on it!! I have Bosch Platinum plugs also!! Thanks in advance for any help!!

I believe the early HEI used a .060 gap.

wow - that's a pretty big gap for a stock HEI... I use .045 with 50000 Volt HEI and MSD... Maybe I should increase my gap to .050...

I had a '76 Olds Cutlass once and the gap was somewhere between .060 and .080!! So I would try .060.

The early HEI's specified a gap of .060", but they had problems with burning thru the rotors after a lot of miles, and the infamous red dust and frozen advance weights. So the later ones were changed to .045". That should work for you. Joe

On my 75 I gap them @ .045" because of what joe73vette said, I also noticed that 1975 is the only year for that large of a gap, wonder why

If you look at GM's specs on CURRENT replacement chevy 350 motors with big cap HEI ... the spec is 0.045".
