I failed to take pictures when I removed the water pump, alternator, a/c compressor. I learned the hard way that the AIM is limited in it's illustrations. There is no good detail diagram of the water pump install. Does the stud for the alternator adjustment bracket go in the top hole of the water pump? I installed the fixed alternator bracket to the front of the cylinder head but there is an extra hole to the right of the water pump holes so I'm not sure if the stud for the alt adjustment bracket goes into the cylinder hole or the stud goes in the top hole of the water pump. Same with the a/c bracket on the right side of the engine. Does the bolt go through the a/c bracket and then into the water pump hole or does the a/c bracket get bolted directly to the front of the cylinder head? How does the smog pump bracket fit into all of this (the bracket that is shaped like a t not the adjustment bracket)? Does it get installed with a bolt through the water pump mount hole?
The water pump is part of the engine assembly, so it isn't detailed in the AIM for vehicle final assembly. But, the accessories are detailed in the AIM. You just need to study it.
I think I have the A/C bracket figured out. The alternator adjusting brace is not too clear. Is there a spacer between the adjusting brace and the water pump? From what I can tell I have two options. Spacer, adjusting brace, lock washer, and stud into the upper water pump hole, or adjusting brace, lock washer, and stud into the upper water pump mount hole without a spacer? Also I've seen some adjusting braces with a hole for a belt guide. Mine has no hole but that doesn't mean anything because this car was bubba'd pretty good. Does the 75 get the brace with the belt guide?
