Default Drone Killer Exhaust Inserts Worked!

Car came with a way too loud Turbo exhaust installed and the low RPM drone really rattled my brain. So I ordered a set of Car Chemistry exhaust inserts from Summit thru ebay for $113 including shipping. For my car the three disk, 2 1/4 " model was the one I selected. Arrived in two days and I installed in the outlet pipes half way into the muffler itself (see picture). Put the supplied inlet cap with the hole on the engine side of the insert. Drilled a hole in the insert outside rings and thru the back of the chrome tips and used a screw to temporarily hold them in (will tack weld when evaluation is finished).

Drone is 90% gone, car sounds real cool and accelerates well. Overall exhaust sound in general is a bit lower and maybe the car is a tad slower, but for me not racing, it solved the noise problem.

Edit update: Took the car for a good run this afternoon and it ain't any slower! Love the sound...reminds me of a past Harley. Going to tack weld it in.

I used the same inserts, but up near the header collectors. They helped cure my exhaust drone too without a noticeable change to performance.

Yes if the muffler did not work I was going to put them up front. I will only use a dab of weld in case I change my mind, but right now I am pretty happy.

You can use a pop rivet instead of weld. Easy to remove if needed.
