I have a line on a 454 std block that spun a rod bearing. It knocked a whole in one of the cylinder walls. He said that a machine shop said it is an easy fix to sleeve. He is asking $250 for it.
What does a sleeve cost?
I have a set of 14011034 sb bow tie heads along with a 3502blt block and crank. He is willing to do a trade. The stuff I have will probably never be used and is collecting dust. What do you think worth it or not?
Forgot to mention he is not far from me and offered to let me see it before dealing.
I would make sure that the block is good before completing the deal. MAKE SURE that the machine shop that you take it to will do the sleeve correctly. Other than that, go for it.....(I bought a block for $200 with a BAD sleeve install, and didn't find out for a couple years...... ) :mad
generally it is an easy fix. You have to be positive that its been magnafluxed and no cracks were found in the block. Sounds like they may have done that already, make sure you find out though. In the machine shop I work at its about 100 dollars to sleeve. It sounds like it might be a a pretty good deal but be careful.
