Thank you! I had the same problems with Powermaster and this one worked perfectly first try without shims. Hard to believe that a $50 starter was better and easier than a $300 one. I hope to have the same long term success you've had.
The bottom line for me is I do not want a NON OEM looking starter on the engine but do want one that is lighter than the OEM Delco and if made in America, better.
I do not like the look and issue with some of the mini starters, as well as the exorbitant cost for some of them
For me, it's having a starter that will crank my engine every time I hit the ignition switch.
Buying a cheaply made starter with a life time warranty, just so I can get a free one "when" my starter goes out is not an option.
Having a starter that is smaller in size, lighter weight and has a higher torque rating are all benefits to me.
I've been looking for a lighter weight starter than my current lightweight C4 PMGR 10.25# starter on my '69. DBE's website shows a similar starter as your link above showed, but for my 153 tooth flywheel application. I'll be contacting DBE for some details on this starter. Thanks for the link.

does your 69 coil require two separate coil + wires ?

I agree. But their prices take my breath away. Some of the Tiltons are heavier than the DBE starters, and I can't justify the extra expense for the one Tilton I found that was lighter. I'm only looking at being able to take 2-3 pounds off the front with a starter swap, and I can sell my spare C4 starter to pay for a DBE unit, but a Tilton is going to cause me to reach deeper into my wallet than I can justify.
