Does anyone know or can you pass a websire on to me for Quadrajet identification.
On the side of the carb are the #'s 17059216 and 0109 cm4. Is this carb the stock one from my 79?
Thanks.

According to my black book that is the right number for a 79 L-48, automatic with air

The first number is correct for a 79, 350 cu. in., 195 HP, with automatic transmission amd air conditioning according to the corvette black book. the second is date code, I believe. Not sure how to decode it just yet.
I thought it was. I have had the car for 15 years and never thought any different. I suppose someone could have put the L82 hood on it before me. I knew the original owner and he replaced the engine with a rebuild before I bought it. What else can I check to see what the car is?
The 5th digit of the VIN tells you whether it's an L48 (VIN 8) or L82 (VIN 4) -- intuitive, eh? Ironically, in 1979 the L82 had higher peak HP, but the L48 had more peak torque!
But...if the engine is a rebuild, all of that becomes a moot point.
Perhaps the previous owner put the L82 emblems on the hood because the rebuilt unit had higher-than-stock HP. You'll have to ask the previous owner what exactly he managed to stuff under the hood :D
