I was thinking of getting my 81 painted in a 2 tone type scheme, with a medium blue for the top color, and black for the lower one. Since I've never seen one I'm not really sure how this will look, I saw a red and silver one and loved the look of the two tone though. My interior is red, and I plan on adding sidepipes someday. I wanted it to be dark matalic blue, but there are already two painted that color around where I live. If any of you have pictures of two tone cars please share. Could you also gie me your opinion of how my color scheme would look. Thanks for any help!

imho- to many different colors going on , think about this : body = black and (medium) blue ; interior = red with dark blue piping , this is starting to look like a bag of "got my butt whooped in the bronx last nite" .......
red with dark blue piping? I don't have any dark blue in my interior? I just thought it would look cool, since I'm partial to two tone cars, I've seen blue cars with red interior, and those look cool, even with the black rocker panels, which would be similar to having the lower portion painted black. My rockers are bare metel, and polished, so the chrome on black will look cool, and go with the wheels nicely. if there is anyone else who thinks this would look cool please let me know, if everyone thinks it looks like poop than I guess I'll have to listen to my sister when she says "I have no taste". Thanks for your imput though kingdavid.

I gotta agree w/the other poster, too much going on. If you want a two tone paint job, the interior should complement one of the two colors. With your red interior, you could possibly get away with either silver/black, red/black, silver/red, or white/red. The blue and black will clash with the red interior and look a bit "clownish" in my opinion.
You may want to play with a picture of your car in photoshop to "test drive" some of these color combos before you plunk down lots of cash on a paint job.
I was going to keep it white, but there are three 81 vettes identical to mine around where I live, white, red interior, red pin striping, and I want to be able to stand apart from them. I wont be painting her for a few more years anyway so I got a bit of time to decide. just wanted to see what people thought of this idea
I'm looking at trying to duplicate the silver/white bottom- black top of the mako prototype any paint gurus have a guesstimate how much that would cost, low end to midrange?
red and black was the other scheme that I wanted. I just love blue soo much, but there are two other blue 81's where I live too... maybe I'll go with the red and black.
Thanks for the help
