Default Engine Value

I have the original engine from my '73 coupe that has a bad crank and bearings. All other internals are new to it. I'm just curious if I should try and sell it (I'm not even sure it's worth anything) or keep it for...who knows why. Currently I have a ZZ4 in the car so it's running great. Whaddaya think, is it worth it for me to keep it or should I sell it and if so, is it worth anything? Just thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Core value 150-200 bux, something like that....

if crank is trash for sure, only thing worth anything is the block, and only to you, for the numbers, not that they are worth anything, if it's an L48 block that is....L82 may be worth a bit more....

I sold the rebuilt by previous owner L48 which ran just fine and had lo miles on it, clean, for 600 bux...complete long block...5 years ago....just to get it out of the garage...

It's the L-48. I'm thinking of rebuilding it for my Jeep but I dunno.

Thanks for the input.

If you should sell your car, the next owner may (or may not) attach some value to it, just because it can always be rebuilt as the original matching numbers engine. If you have the space...and any thought of selling in future...you may want to hang on to it. Once it's gone, it's gone forever!

If the rest of the engine is in good shape other than the crank, get a new crank and bearings and put it back together. After trying to sell a bunch of new parts I had for a rebuild I've decided to stick them in my old engine and find something to put it in. Or put it back in my car and put the ZZ4 in something else.

The engine has more value if it's kept with the car. Otherwise it's just a 2 bolt smallblock core. Disassemble the engine, clean it up, oil the block, then bag and store it. In 10 years when '73 prices are through the roof, you'll be glad you have the original block to rebuild and reinstall.
