Default Oil Pressure

Hello. I have a question about differing oil pressure. I have noticed that when using a Wix oil filter over a Fram the oil pressure will be higher by 5 to 10 lbs. I started wondering if this is good , bad or doesn't really make a difference. Does the higher pressure indicate the Wix filter is filtering better, but in a small way restricting the flow and creating the higher pressure and slightly less flow of oil that may not be best for the engine?
The pressure with both filters is fine, just wondering if the higher pressure was a good thing. I also am aware of many peoples view of Fram filters but just curious about the pressure part. Thanks.

If you look up an oil path diagram, you will see the filter is before the pressure ports. The higher pressure is probably due to reduced restriction. Wix filters are pretty good. I have been told most brands are made by a few manufacturers, but to the brand's' specifications.

Yep.....the Wix is less restrictive. Fram makes the HP series which are the best flowing filters out there.......they are made totally different to Fram OEM filters and are high quality but $11 a piece.

Am I correct in thinking that the Wix,being less restrictive is allowing more oil to the engine and the higher pressure is because of a higher flow and /any normal restrictions that are inherent in the engine. So as long as there is decent filtering of the oil It’s best to go with the higher flow and higher pressure?

I would barely call it cardboard. You must have watched those non-bias videos on YouTube also. Pretty amazing test results.

Two filters of the same size: the one with the better filtration will require more 'work' to push the same amount of fluid through the filter. WIX should be more restrictive and result in a bit higher pressure....IF oil pressure is measured ahead of the filter (which, I believe, is the case for the C3's).

I use the hp fram filter. And agree very good flowing, high quality filter. Changed once a season so the price doesn’t bother me.

would not use a standard fram filter on any car I own.
