I am going to restore my dads 1968 Corvette, but i dont know much about stuff. I am wondering if a 383 engine will fit in it. It was originally a 427 and has later been swapped for a 350. I want to put a 383 in it, but i dont know if it will fit with a long waterpump. Can anyone help me? Thanks
Exhausts, pumps, brackets, mounts, intake will all swap from the 350. Unless it is aluminum heads with raised exhaust ports there is no external diff between 383 and any stock gen 1 350. Did your dad do the 350 conversion? And if so is the 427 stuff stored? If so, going back to big block should be considered.
Would be awsome, but i dont think it will be an option. It will cost more, and since i live in Norway, fuel is really expencive. And there are lots of fees for having a big engine
What Vehicle did the Norway 350 come from? A vette, a truck, a caprice or what? Does it have a Long pump now? Does its pump match dimensions Peterbuilt supplied above?
Just as sbc 73 Vette pump is unique, so are the 73 Vette combinations of sbc brackets & pulleys which are configured to fit sbc vette pump only.
Big Block Vette brackets & pulleys combo are Not configured to fit small block.
Whatever setup you had on your 350 will work on any 350/383 you replace it with. Just watch out for a one piece seal motor. That would require a new flywheel. And oil pan. And most of the one-piece Motors don't have fuel pump mounts.

Nice can anyone link me a complete 383 without a flexplate. Really hard to find and i would really appriciate it if anyone could fine one thanks
Lots of guys seem to like Blueprint Engines:
Picture shown with optional tall, perimeter bolt valve covers.
This engine requires a 400ci weighted harmonic balancer, and late 350ci weighted flexplate/flywheel.
BluePrint Engines recommends a 2000-2400 rpm stall converter.
*A bronze distributor gear is NOT recommended on this engine
Recommended spark plugs are Champion 792 with .045"" gap
Not for use in pollution controlled vehicles.
This engine is not compatible with factory fuel injection.

Other item to consider when using any 383, these are usually externally balanced and require a matching flywheel / flexplate for auto or manual transmissions. Also externally balanced engine may still produce a vibration at some RPMS depending on how well the flywheel / flex plate matches the build.
This may be an additional cost if the engine doesn't come with what you need.
Don't be so hung up on the small parts. Alternators can be gotten anywhere. Water pumps are fifty bucks. You insist on without a flexplate. Why? Is your 68 A 4 speed? And you have all the original correct brackets on the previous engine.
......................... I want a COMPLETE engine. It has to include everything. Water pump, alternator, carburator... thanks
Water pump, alternator, carburator...etc, are accessories, not part of the engine. You have to get them separate depending on your specific application.
