Default '69 seat back bumpers

I need some info. on '69 seat back bumpers lower and upper. On my supposed original '69 seats I have one side lower bumper each seat. They have a soft, large round rubber with a washer in the center and a phillips screw through each into the floor. The upper seatback adjusters (the ones I need to replace) have a machine threaded approx. 1 1/2 inch bolt with a large (nickel size) head with a coller under the head. The center of the head has a phillips slots in it and a rubber grommet around the nickel size head. This part looks much like the many parts manuals showing the same part without the rubber grommet for '70-82 but lower adjusters. I need the rubber grommet for the upper adjustable head or the whole upper adj. stud with grommet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you've got the right stuff. The seat back bumpers changed during the 69 run. You have what is commonly called the "late" version. The threaded rubber gizmo's are available in just about all the catalogs. The rubber is not available separately to the best of my knowledge. Chuck

Thanks alot for the info. I guess by looking at the parts books, I should be able to use the 70-82 threaded rubber bumper stops....... :D

Those will work fine. All 68's and 69's up till about July 69 used a plastic/hard rubber non adjustable stop on the seat back. After July 69, they switched to the adjustable gizmo, that you have. Also...on the lower part, the seat bottom, early 68's used a metal washer, not the hard rubber. After late 68, they switched to the hard rubber one that you have. Hope this helps.

To "bore" you further with details :) when you car was new, you got a bag of shims...about 8 as I recall. 4 were round, and 4 were square. Those shims were configured to fit under the seat back catch and under the seat bottom washer. Those were used to adjust the angle of the seat back. More than you wanted to know. :) Chuck
