Th350rebuild no endplay
Hi
im rebuilding a th350 , when I install the pump it locks up.
I checked that the case bushing has enough clearance for the torrington bearing.
also checked for proper engagement on the sun shell.
what else is there to check?
only different bearing I have is a bronze instead of a plastic thrust washer, but I don't think that one influences endplay.
the rear shaft has endplay untill I fit the pump.
thanks

The only reason I can think of is one of the clutches in the forward or input drums is not lined up. correctly and is holding it up. Looking at your pictures again, I'd say that's your problem. Have you got the plastic thrust washer that sets on the planetary set?

I agree...it hasn't dropped through a clutch somewhere in the stack.

I install the high reverse clutch on the forward clutch outside the trans. Then I install the combo. The combo needs to be rotated and a little pressure lifted off it to fall into place. That way you'll be able to to see if the dogs go deep enough sun shell. You can check before you put in the band. Is that a 350 lock up sun shell? Or V6 piece?
I have a dimension written out in the shop. It's the distance between the pump face on the case and the top of the high clutch assembly. A check of that lets you know if your " stack" is right. I'll check it if you are still stuck.
