Default 4 speed to automatic.

Anyone put in a power glide or turbo 350 ? I think that the automatic had a different trans mount and location on the frame. Was their anything else different ? Im looking at drag racing so the information book is open. Thanks, Philo :chevy

Major difference is radiator has cooling line from trans going to it, frame mount for rear of trams is removable, driveshafts may be different, shifters, flex plate on motor vs flywheel these come to mind.

I know what Your saying , what I wonder about the most is what is special about doing this to a vette itself. I could swear that that the trans mount was different between the two. Till I get to changing it I wont know for sure. Thanks, Philo :chevy

Woah woah woah, so you have all the four speed parts? Hmm. I may want those. I don't know if it is more trouble then it is worth right now though... Probably is.

Your 4-Speed has a welded in crossmember, where the automatic cars had removable crossmember. I don't know if there is a different location in the placement of the crossmembers, but I doubt it. I imagine you are going to have to cut your crossmember out if you go with an automatic, or pull the engine before you try and install the tranny. I don't think there is room to get the auto up into place with the crossmember in place, but I could be wrong.
I can understand the Powerglide if you are building a serious drag car and are going to be running high-power and a lightened car, but why do you want to use a TH350? The TH350 is a weak sister when compared to a TH400. The TH400 is almost bullet proof and really not much heavier than a TH350.

The reason for maybe a 350 is they can be built strong also. granted 400 are stronger but are more for heavy cars and also they need more hps to turn. Its kinda like a 9 inch to a 12 bolt , if you dont need the extra strenth use the 12 bolt , it takes less horsepower to run. Thanks, Philo. :chevy
