There are multiple companies that sell point to electronic ignition conversions that go in the stock distributor. I ran the Pertronix Ignitor in my 64 Impala SS with a mild 350 for 10 years without issue. Even Delco sells a conversion.

Never said it was an HEI system. The PO asked about using a TI system he has, he didn't ask for an HEI. If his plans are simply to get away from points, the conversions are simpler and more reliable than the ancient TI system he has while remaining stock looking which was one of his goals. He could then sell the TI and have lots of cash left over.
