A. Some type of fish aquarium heater to dissolve grease.
B. Some type of vibrator, perhaps from a sleezy motel bed, to dissolve rust.
C. Car parts 220V anti-theft device when plugged in.
D. A homemade ultrasound gizmo to check for fractures.
E. Demagnetizer for release of iron oxidizing.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but they looked like that prior to soaking. I don't think the previous owner ever changed oil. I suspected it was aluminum from the bearing, partly why I decided to use sodium hydroxide (lye, Drano) because it dissolves aluminum, but no such luck.
2 hours of polishing with 800/1000/1500 grit and it looks ok.
30 gal trash can from the kitchen or a large rubbermaid container with lid
$29 pond pump with some clear hose from Home Depot
Piping hot water and cleaner (degreaser, Tide etc)of your choice. Like a crock pot, dump your stuff in walk away and lift them out clean. Rinse & done!
Using oven cleaner beforehand on stubborn stuff helps.
