Great site. I just aquired my 1st Vette, a "71". It has a Delco AM/FM 8 Track. I was told the car came with this from the factory. Was an 8 Track an option then?
According to my info , UM2 was the first 8 track and this came out in 1977. 1971 had either U69 or U79. U69 AM/FM push button and U79 was the stereo version.
Titanium Rat: I have a Delco AM/FM 8-Track car radio -- a AM/FM 8-track shelf unit -- and a case of 8-track tapes hiding in my basement -- and it all worked the last time I tested it.

Chris is correct...8-track did not come out in Corvette until 1977. It was 1977 that Corvette accepted their run of the mill radios. Up until that time Corvette used units built just for Corvette. That is the reason 8-tracks were not available earlier as they were in other GM products.
What kind of pricing does an original Radio/Stereo bring.. restored versus unrestored. Reason I ask..... I have an original I removed from a 1970 I used to own and have kept it boxed ever since I removed it. I have seen some requests here for originals, but no idea what they go for.... any insight? thx
