i was sitting around this afternoon, watching snow fall and thinking of all kinds of projects to do. While I have the dash pad out and am replacing the main wiring harness, I thought about converting the tach using the following kit:
Has anyone done this before? Experiences? I actually have a tach Drive MSD distributor but have never been impressed with the performance of the bouncing needle.

I would have the head serviced and install a new cable. It shouldn't bounce that much.
I've done the conversion on my '71 and recommend it. Tach works much better now. I also swapped out the 5,600 rpm redline face plate for one with 6,000 rpm.
I wish someone would come out with a stepper motor electronic tach for these cars.
The OEM style electronic tachs were mediocre at best. Stepper motor tachs (and speedos) with the OEM face would rock!
After two cross-gears replacements and two cables over the years on my 1974, I tried the conversion since my dash was also apart. Highly recommended ! Very easy Conversion with a very easy 3 wire hook up. Accurate too!! Ithe hardest part I can see is pulling the dash pad apart and back in, so if you have it out, Now would be the best time to convert!! Good luck!!

Mine cam from Zip and it is great. Gets rid of some clutter around the distributor area and is within 100 rpm of actual.......needle does not bounce.
Three wire hookup........one goes to my MSD box.
